A triple header weekend starts tonight at Chicagoland Speedway with the Camping World Truck Series Lucas Oil 225. The green flag is scheduled to wave at 8:49pm (EST) with a planned distance of 150 laps. Tonight’s event will mark just the 6th Camping World Truck Series race at Chicagoland Speedway. The Truck Series did not start competing at Chicagoland until 2009. Since that time Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon have amassed 4 of the 5 wins at Chicagoland. Tonight both Busch and Dillon will suit up in attempt to grab yet another checkered flag. Take a look at our Lucas Oil 225 race picks!

Busch has been nothing short of dominate with 3 wins in 4 Camping World Truck Series starts at Chicagoland Speedway. The only non-victory start from Busch resulted in a 5th place finish in 2011. Busch enters tonight’s event as a heavy favorite to capture another victory. However, Busch will be lacking seat time as he enters tonight’s race. Busch did not participate in either of Thursday’s Truck Series’ practices at Chicagoland as he was participating in NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup media day. Erik Jones filled in for Busch in Thursday’s practices and proved the #51 truck has plenty of speed. Jones finished 3rd in practice 1 and rounded out the 8th position in final practice. Therefore I don’t expect Busch’s lack of practice time to have any major effects once the green flag drops later tonight.

The other favorite in tonight’s race that we have our eye on is Austin Dillon. Dillon has 3 starts in the Truck Series at Chicagoland resulting in 3 top 10 finishes with 1 victory in 2011. The #20 truck appeared to come to life in final practice yesterday after finishing 6th in the first session. Dillon led nearly the entire final practice before a couple of trucks moved into qualifying trim. If Dillon is as strong as we think he might be in race trim, then he should have a truck that can contend for the victory late Friday night.

A few other guys that showed some speed that could also make some noise Friday night include Ryan Blaney, Darrell Wallace Jr, and possibly Johnny Sauter. Sauther finished on top of the charts in final practice after what appeared to be a qualifying run. However the #98 truck was 5th fastest in practice 1 and has been really solid in recent outings at the 1.5 mile speedways. Ryan Blaney topped the charts in the first session before sliding back to 11th in final practice. Blaney finished 3rd in his only Chicagoland Truck Series start last year so it will be interesting to see if he can stay upfront again. Also, keep notice on Darrell Wallace Jr in that other #54 Toyota from Kyle Busch Motorsports. ‘Bubba’ has had an excellent season and he was as consistent as anyone through both of Thursday’s practices. Don’t be surprised if that #54 truck is in the mix when it matters most later this evening.

Lucas Oil 225 Race Picks:

Austin Dillon +475 (2.5 units): 2011 winner, really strong in race trim in final practice.
Kyle Busch +125 (5 units): 3 time Chicagoland Truck Series winner, #51 truck had plenty of speed with Erik Jones behind the wheel, setting up for another “Rowdy” performance

H2H Matchups

Darrell Wallace Jr -110 over Johnny Sauter (2 units)

*Qualifying cancelled due to rain. Starting lineup will be setup by Practice 1 Speeds
