Hollywood Casino 400 Practice 1 Speeds

43 cars roared to life at Kansas Speedway this afternoon in the first of 3 practice sessions scheduled before Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400. After rain washed out the first Nationwide Series practice scheduled for Friday afternoon, Sprint Cup Series teams were able to complete all 80 minutes of Friday’s scheduled practice. Kevin Harvick paced the field through the first 45 minutes of practice but was overtaken by Jeff Gordon late in Friday’s session after the #24 posted a blistering lap of 196.257mph. Gordon won earlier this year at Kansas in May and enters the weekend on a wave of momentum following last Sunday’s victory at Dover. Gordon and Harvick, who were among the two overall opening favorites for the Hollywood Casino 400, easily appeared to have the fastest cars in race trim. Greg Biffle, who was knocked out of the Chase last week at Dover, was also really happy with his #16 car and finished 3rd on the speed charts.
