This Saturday night the Sprint Cup Series will go night racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Bank of America 500 marking the opening race in the Contender Round in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Not only will Chase drivers have a chance to score a victory and lock their selves into the Eliminator Round but Saturday’s Bank of America 500 will also give daily fantasy fanatics another opportunity to win money with Draftkings. However, these daily fantasy contests can be tricky and sometimes it can be hard to build the most efficient NASCAR DFS lineup. We take this time to take an early preview for the Bank of America 500 and put our handicapping spin on producing our Draftkings NASCAR optimal lineup for Charlotte Motor Speedway.

One of the first things that you might notice from the starting lineup that was set earlier tonight is that 4 of the top 8 drivers are from the Joe Gibbs Racing stable. It was not any surprise that all 4 JGR cars advanced to the next round of the Chase and it would not be too surprising, despite improbable, that they advance to the next round as well. Both Matt Kenseth and Denny Hamlin have excellent resumes at Charlotte. Charlotte has been one of Hamlin’s best tracks statistically and he has the 2nd best average finish over the last 10 races. Meanwhile, Kenseth has been equally strong with top 5 finishes in 5 of the last 6 races. With the #20 car starting P1, you nearly have to lock him into your fantasy roster given the potential to rack up a ton of points by leading laps early.

A few of your sleeper picks could vary but one I really like is Kasey Kahne. Charlotte is Kahne’s best track by a wide margin and the #5 car has been running pretty well including a strong showing at Dover last week. The #5 car had a rather average qualifying effort despite being 5th on the leader board in speed after the 1st practice. I expect Kahne to run well this week meaning his starting position should only help him with pass differential. Speaking of pass differential, that is the reason I am putting the #14 on my roster this week as well. Stewart had a horrible qualifying effort after a pretty strong practice to start things off on Thursday. Even if the #14 does not run exceptionally well, a top 20 finish would still be decent from a 36th starting spot.

Greg Biffle is the only driver on my roster with a fantasy value lower than Stewart’s but the #16 has shown plenty of speed at Charlotte recently. Biffle recorded a runner-up finish back in the Coca Cola 600 and unloaded strong this weekend. Biffle has been nothing short of average at best thus far this season but I think he has some upside going into the weekend at a $6,400 salary price. The thinking here is hopefully Biffle can stay around the front from a strong starting position and get a quality finish. If both Stewart and Biffle can stay out of trouble, I believe the rest of the lineup will be really strong. Dale Earnhardt Jr should be a guy that can surprise again this week following his stout run at Dover last week where he literally drove his way into the Eliminator Round. The #88 has been showing some noticeable speed and he has run really well at the 1.5 mile tracks overall this season.
