The NASCAR Xfinity Series is scheduled for 200 laps of racing this afternoon at Dover International Speedway with the running of the Hisense 200. Rain has shortened and cancelled most of the events thus far at Dover International Speedway. Both the Xfinity practice and qualifying events were cancelled on Friday. Therefore when the green flag does wave this afternoon, barring any more interruptions from Mother Nature, it will mark the first laps of the weekend for Xfinity Series teams and drivers. Despite the lack of on-track activity to review going into today’s race, we take a look at our 2015 Hisense 200 race picks preview

Back in May, Chris Buescher captured a victory at Dover in a race that ended in a crazy fuel mileage race. Buescher and teammate Darrell Wallace Jr actually roughed each other up racing for the win while trying to save fuel at the end of the race. The latter result left one teammate in victory lane and another out of contention. Buescher’s win back in May stopped a streak of more than 20 straight victories by Sprint Cup Series drivers. Guys like Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, and Joey Logano have absolutely dominated at Dover in recent years leaving little room for opportunity from the Xfinity Series regulars. Today the likes of Denny Hamlin, Austin Dillon, Kyle Larson, and Kyle Busch will try to renew another dominate streak from the Sprint Cup Series veterans.

Obviously Busch will be the overwhelming favorite today especially with no weekend on-track time leaving bettors to go by past performances. At Dover Rowdy has been great with 5 victories in 19 starts. However, Busch’s 5 wins have come in his last 11 starts and he has only finished outside the top 5 in 2 of those 11 races. Still, Busch is going to have some competition today despite the uncertainties with no practice time. Denny Hamlin has been good here in the past with two victories and Austin Dillon is having the best year of his career in the Xfinity Series. Additionally, I imagine the likes of Chris Buescher and Darrell Wallace Jr will be strong again today as well.

Buescher has been well off from his pace that started the 2015 season that included multiple wins and a dominate points lead. However, he has been great on the tracks that are in length of 1 mile or less. Additionally, teammate Darrell Wallace Jr is a guy that should be considered in low tier H2H matchups. Wallace has posted great runs in his two trips to Dover but has not had the finishes to show for it. Today should be an opportunity for Bubba to get a rather strong run and quality finish. Also, the last guy that you have to keep on your radar this afternoon to some degree is Chase Elliot. The #9 NAPA car has been running better during the 2nd half of the season and he has been rock solid at the Monster Mile with 3 finishes of 6th or better. If you are looking for a decent long shot or H2H matchup, the #9 should be at the top of your list.
