Later tonight the Camping World Truck Series will go racing at Texas Motor Speedway with the running of the WinStar World Casino and Resort 400k. The Truck Series will kick off the first leg of a two night event between the Truck Series and IndyCar which has become an annual action packed weekend during the first week of June each year at Texas Motor Speedway. Tonight the green flag will drop at 9:19PM (EST) with 30 Trucks battling it out for 167 scheduled laps in a late night main event. Take a look as we provide our thoughts and 2015 WinStar World Casino and Resort 400 race picks!

Tonight’s Truck Series field is currently listed at 30 drivers which are all Truck Series regulars. Due to the fact this is a standalone Truck Series race, it is missing some of the big names that you see when they are at the same venues as the Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series. Therefore the playing field has been narrowed down to the two big favorites for tonight’s race with Erik Jones and Matt Crafton. Jones is listed as the overall favorite from an odds perspective. However, Crafton may be the true favorite considering he has won 2 of the 3 races at 1.5 mile tracks already this season. Crafton also posted the fastest speed in final practice with a lap of 178.406mph proving he has another truck worthy of winning.

Erik Jones on the other hand has had nothing but misfortune in recent weeks in the Truck Series. Jones ran out of gas after dominating at Kansas then was edged out of the win by literal inches at Charlotte after dominating that race as well. Last week at Dover, Jones was again in position for a win before his two tire strategy faded to the 4 tire call from Tyler Reddick and the #19 team. Therefore it has been 3 straight races of close calls and near wins for Jones. The big question tonight is does his bad luck finally end? Jones dominated both of the last two 1.5 mile tracks so it would not be surprising to see him in victory lane tonight given things can hold together for all 167 laps.

Outside of Crafton and Jones, can any other drivers win tonight’s race? Well of course they can but the odds of it happening are not good. Tyler Reddick has finished in the top 5 in every race this season outside of Kansas. Reddick would be a good dark horse tonight but his odds are disgustingly low and currently listed at just 4-1 (*before qualifying). Therefore, I do not think you can take Reddick as a dark horse with odds that low. The only other driver that I think could pull off the upset tonight under true race conditions is the driver of the #51 truck in Daniel Suarez. Suarez is getting better with each week and even though he is technically an Xfinity Series driver; I believe he will score a win in the Truck Series before the year is over. Suarez finished 2nd at Dover last week and posted really strong runs at both Atlanta and Kansas. I expect the #51 truck to be stout again tonight and possibly be a player in H2H matchups.
