Fred’s 250 Race Picks

The Camping World Truck Series will take center stage this afternoon in the Fred’s 250 at Talladega Superspeedway. A full field of young drivers look to make their mark this afternoon in a rare restrictor plate race that does not feature any Sprint Cup Series drivers. The playing field is level and many drivers will be looking to capitalize on the opportunity that restrictor plate racing provides with a chance to go to victory lane. Take a look at our Fred’s 250 race picks as we look forward to an exciting afternoon.

One of the most important aspects to these lottery style races is making sure that you have a high ROI on your race picks. Often restrictor plate races end with surprise winners in upset fashion. There is not any need to spread a bunch of bets around on odds that will only yield a small profit because chances are when those big “upsets” occur, bettors miss out completely. If you are skilled enough, albeit with some luck, to cash in these races then make sure you are getting the most profit possible.

Having a low risk, high reward betting strategy is ideal in these types of races. Just looking back at the Daytona race earlier this year which was the only other Truck Series restrictor plate race of 2014 and it is obvious that there were several lesser known drivers that contended for that win back in February. Expect the same today with drivers like Tyler Reddick on the pole along with potential threats John Wes Townley, Mason Mingus, Joe Nemechek, and Ben Kennedy all starting towards the front.

Of course that is not to say that some of the household names will not contend today either. Matt Crafton, Erik Jones, and Darrell Wallace Jr are tied for the most wins among Truck Series regulars with two wins each. Throw in Johnny Sauter into the mix and there is a good crop of Truck Series to contend with this afternoon.
