The Monster Energy Cup Series returns to action on Sunday with the running of the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Last weekend’s rare open date has left extra anticipation on the table to get back to racing this weekend. As we look forward to Sunday’s 500 miles of racing, it is important to point out that weather conditions have convoluted our expectations for tomorrow’s race. Earlier today, teams and drivers took part in a pair of practices at Texas under bizarre conditions that features freezing temperatures, misting rain, and a green race track. Those conditions contributed towards a certain level of caution from drivers and another level of uncertainty from race teams on how to approach practices.. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for sunshine with temperatures nearly 30 degrees warmer which will obviously cause significant changes to track conditions and cause cars to handle differently. Therefore, we have to admit the uncomfortable level of uncertainty surrounding the idea of predicting which teams will be best prepared for the changes in track conditions on Sunday.
