NASCAR’s Xfinity Series will take center stage in just a few hours at Daytona International Speedway for the first point’s race of the season with the running of the PowerShares QQQ 300. A full field of 43 stock cars are set to tangle on the high banks of Daytona for 120 laps this afternoon. With a number of Sprint Cup Series stars in action, today’s race should only maximize the anticipation for tomorrow’s 58th running of the Great American Race. We take this time to provide our 2016 PowerShares QQQ 300 preview from an odds perspective as we get one step closer to Sunday’s Daytona 500.

Unsurprisingly, Sprint Cup Series talent and a few of the big names in the Xfinity Series such as Ty Dillon and Erik Jones are leading the way on the odds sheets. Dillon won the pole for today’s race and will lead the field to the green flag. Brother Austin Dillon won the July race in the Xfinity Series at Daytona back last July. The elder Dillon is one of a few drivers that have visited victory lane at Daytona in this series. The other two guys that have accomplished that feat are Joey Logano and Kasey Kahne, Logano is listed as the overall favorite for today’s race but the #22 team has not been overly impressive in terms of speed throughout practices and qualifying. Obviously lap times can be misleading at a place like Daytona so it will be interesting to see how the #22 car performs once the green flag drops this afternoon.

In regards to the betting odds for today’s race, I still think that it is a crapshoot to find value in a driver’s odds and matching it with the probability of that driver pulling out a win. Similar to last night’s truck race, I do not see a ton of opportunity in today’s race from an odds perspective. I cannot fathom taking Logano at 3.5 to 1 odds. Even though Austin Dillon is the 2nd biggest favorite, he is getting double the odds of the #22 car. Dillon has several strong restrictor plate runs in the 2015 at both Daytona and Talladega. Going into today’s race, I would give the elder Dillon the slight advantage over the field.

If you are looking for bigger gambles with higher reward for this afternoon’s race, I would look no further than the Joe Gibbs Racing cars of Daniel Suarez (+1850) and former Sprint Cup veteran Bobby Labonte (+2000). Both cars have looked very solid throughout the week in practices and qualifying. Suarez proved he could handle the high banks with some flashes of brilliance in these races a year ago. Bobby Labonte, the former 1991 Xfinity Series Champion, will look to turn back father time as he gets an opportunity in one of the best cars in the series by way of the #18 machine. I would not be surprised if either of these two cars stole the spotlight this afternoon in the waning laps of today’s race. Therefore if you are looking for a longshot, both drivers are near 20-1 on the odds sheet.
