Tonight the Camping World Truck Series will officially usher in the first points race of the 2016 season with the running of the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway. An entirely new crop of young talent will be on full display tonight with guys like William Byron, Christopher Bell, Daniel Hemric, Rico Abreu and more who will be looking to steal Daytona’s thunder just as Tyler Reddick did in this race 1 year ago with his first victory in the series. Of course those youngsters will be faced against several veterans that have plenty of big track experience tonight with guys like Timothy Peters and Matt Crafton headlining tonight’s field.

The mix of young and veteran talent should present an intriguing and yet unpredictable race tonight. There are so many variables in any race at Daytona but once you throw in the wide array of experience then things are bound to get dicey. From an odds standpoint, Timothy Peters has led all drivers as the overall favorite at 3.5 to 1 odds. A full list of odds for drivers will be listed after qualifying and shortly before the green flag at 5Dimes. However, I believe the value in tonight’s odds are rather limited as several drivers could easily win this race by being in the right spot on the last lap.

If you are looking to play a few match-ups or bet on a few drivers to win tonight’s race, I definitely believe Timothy Peters and Tyler Reddick have the best chances to get the job done. However from an odds perspective, I do not see much value for tonight’s race. It is the first race of the season with a lot of unknowns, big multi-car wreck possibilities, and it just seems like there is way more risk than reward for any productive betting card. Therefore, we will not release any official picks for tonight’s NextEra Energy Resources 250 and pick up the action with the trucks at Atlanta next week for our first official picks of the 2016 Camping World Truck Series season.
