Tomorrow afternoon the Camping World Truck Series will kick off a Saturday double header for NASCAR with the running of the UNOH 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Truck Series race at New Hampshire will be the first of two races on Saturday with the Xfinity Series capping the night off at Kentucky Speedway. However it is the Truck Series that has accompanied the Sprint Cup Series to Loudon this week. As a result, both Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon will be featured in tomorrow’s race as the two leading favorites to win the UNOH 175. Take a look at our preview for Trucks at Loudon as we provide our 2015 UNOH 175 race picks!
For Dillon and Busch, they are clearly the two overwhelming favorites for tomorrow’s race. Before Cole Custer’s win in this race one year ago, Busch had won in each of his 3 prior trips to Loudon in the Truck Series. Busch’s 3 wins are tied with Ron Hornaday Jr for the most in New Hampshire Motor Speedway history in the Truck Series and Rowdy will get his opportunity to take sole possession of that lead tomorrow. However, it has been Austin Dillon that has been really impressive thus far this weekend in practices. Dillon swept both of Friday’s practice sessions and appears to be the leading contender to challenge Busch for the victory. Dillon has 3 prior starts in the Truck Series in Loudon that includes a runner-up finish in his most recent start in 2011.
Both Busch and Dillon are listed at really low odds. Therefore it would be hard to take both drivers in any type of betting strategy that would yield a return that is worthy of the risk. I believe you will likely have to make a pick between the driver that you like the most and then consider a potential dark horse. The odds are pretty decent behind Busch and Dillon. Matt Crafton, Erik Jones, and Cole Custer are all receiving generous odds. Jones was 2nd in the 1st practice while Crafton finished 4th in both practices on Friday. Cole Custer was a bit further back which may be a little surprising considering his strong run and victory in this race last year.
From an odds perspective, Custer is receiving extremely generous odds at 11-1 currently. The 17 year old has been masterful on short tracks during his young career in the Truck Series and I think he will be a factor tomorrow despite the mediocre practices. I also believe that New Hampshire really suits Erik Jones driving style as well considering his resume and knack for running strong on flat surfaces. Both drivers should be solid 2nd tier options for Saturday. Outside of your expected front-runners, keep guys like Johnny Sauter and John Hunter Nemechek on your radar as well. Sauter has been really extremely well in recent weeks and the #98 team has a lot of momentum.
Meanwhile, Nemechek captured his first win in a fuel mileage situation last week at Chicagoland. Obviously that win has to be a big confidence boost for the young driver. Not to mention, the #8 truck has run very well on similar surfaces and also finished 5th in this race last year. I would consider keeping both Nemechek and Sauter on your radar for H2H situations as drivers that should have a strong afternoon. At 28-1, Nemechek may not be a bad pick for a big long shot if you are looking to take a gamble with the potential of a huge return. One other driver to possibly keep an eye on will be Dalton Sargeant in the #5 truck. Sargeant made his first start back at Bristol and captured an impressive 10th place showing in his debut. The #5 truck has looked awfully good on Friday in terms of lap times so do not be surprised if another impressive showing is instore for the youngster if he can stay out of trouble on Saturday.
