:< alright fellas this weekend we have our very first night races of the 2017 season at KANSAS motor speedway. We are back to an intermediate track after 3 weeks of short track and superspeedway racing. The truck series comes back after another month off Friday night, and the Cup guys will be racing Saturday night.  All on-track activities are moved up a day early. The xfinity series is off for the next couple of weeks.

KANSAS is a 1.5 mile intermediate asphalt track with banking in the turns ranging from 17-20 degrees. The frontstretch is 9-11 degrees and the backstretch is banked at 5 degrees. This racetrack was repaved in 2012.

As always, everybody's opinions, thoughts, and picks are always welcomed in the forum. Sharing information is what makes us all better in the long run!

GOODLUCK this week!!!!!

 :cheers

This racetrack was repaved in 2012

Since the repave, tire wear has been very minimal and this has been one racetrack where track position has been very key to finishing positions. Which isn't a good thing for actual racing which has been lack luster to say the least here

Key stat:
Over the past 3 races here, at least 6 of the drivers who qualified in the top 10, also finished inside the top 10

Maybe the track is starting to finally wear, but hasn't really looked that way as tire wear has continued to be minimal over the past years here. Now I haven't seen the tires Goodyear is brining this weekend yet, but this is a key thing to keep in mind when making any early plays before qualifying plays out. All we can do is go off historical data and current form in all pre-sessions plays.

Just another thing to keep in mind this week

About time for the trucks. I'll be eyeing harvick, logano, and kb on openers.

My #1 pick If the odds  aren't terrible maybe truex, because he won't be top 3 odds on Favs for openers. But all depends on the odds for everybody

Loves Kansas and loose lug cost Ams pit problems cost him this race last year.  Performs very well in the spring race last few years

Also did a goodyear test here in October, which may be a big factor considering this is A brand new tire for Kansas this weekend.

Plus he qualifies great here, top 7 the last 4, including 3 top 4 starts

Stat of the week:

JGR has only ONE (yes 1) COMBINED top 5 finish this entire season. And that was Kennseth.  They have had no speed at all. And if u don't have speed here with minimal tire wear, u have little to no chance of an appearance in victory lane. That's why I just can not take any of them on openers, much less single digits. no matter how good they been at Kansas in the last few years   Just my thinking on them as a group

Kyle Busch has finished top 5 (1 win) in the last 4 races at Kansas
