Starting the thread.

Rory sitting at +475 for the win.  I can't remember any time that someone was favored that much.  The good news is, that should make for some great longshots.

I haven't started any research yet, but should be some good opportunities (not Rory).  Let's pick some winners!  :$$$

Rory's odds are Tiger-like, unreal. Then again they probably deserve to be that low, he is playing some of the best golf of his career right now. Nobody can beat him when he is on, period. I may do a small parlay on him just in case he torches the field again

Early bets:

Ricky Fowler +2250: guy has averaged like 3rd in the majors this year

Jim Furyk +3700: 12th at U.S Open, 4th at Open Championship, 2nd at RBC, 15th at WGC. Has some Valhalla experience from 08 Ryder Cup

Jordan Spieth +4000: I am going to bet Speith every major until he wins. He is too good not to win one of these damn things soon

Hunter Mahan +7500: inconsistent this year but did play well last week at Firestone. Like Furyk, he played in the 08 Ryder Cup at Valhalla

I made some plays on G. McDowell to start (win, top 5, top 10) and Tim Clark to finish T10 (+1200).

I did one H2H matchup matrix for the Open and went 5 for 5 (One was a tie).  Ended up being a nice little parlay payday.  Here's my initial roster that I always make off an initial look at H2H matchups.  I don't read much into championship previews or anything else on these picks.  I literally scan the board and check ones I like:

Pending   8/7/14 7:00am  Majors Golf  104 Sergio Garcia (Tourn) +165* vs Rory McIlroy (Tourn)
Pending   8/7/14 7:00am  Majors Golf  113 Rickie Fowler (Tourn) -125* vs Phil Mickelson (Tourn)
Pending   8/7/14 7:00am  Majors Golf  128 Jim Furyk (Tourn) -130* vs Bubba Watson (Tourn)
Pending   8/7/14 7:00am  Majors Golf  141 Graeme McDowell (Tourn) -125* vs Hideki Matsuyama (Tourn)
Pending   8/7/14 7:00am  Majors Golf  159 Angel Cabrera (Tourn) +125* vs Steve Schneiter (Tourn)
Pending   8/7/14 7:00am  Majors Golf  188 Miguel Angel Jimenez (Tourn) -125* vs Ernie Els (Tourn)

Just FYI, my Angel Cabrera v. Steve Schneiter bet seemed to be a bit lucky.   I couldn't believe the +odds given Schneiter is a club pro who qualified for the tourney.  Now the matchup is Cabrera v. Steve Stricker which is probably what they meant in the first place.

Think that bet will hold up given Schneiter is actually a player in the field?

Probably depends how many people bet it. If it hasn't been cancelled now, after they changed the matchup, then probably won't be cancelled. Unless you are being freerolled I guess.

yes

thank you

i guess ill join the fun this tim, only bet on Master this year and usual play only 2 tourneys all year for fun so why not...

and only majors and usually only longer odds guys for fun....i will look @ parlayable winners after the cut...because even if im in the hunt i wont turn off Watkins glen to watch 1 minute of golf....so boring i cant stand it...i would just check leaderboard as i doubt my 2-3 picks have any chance as lonhsgots

(yes 5dimes does offer parlable winners after the cut  if u guys didnt know...maybe b4 im not positive :))

rickie fowler

charles schwartzel

bubba watson

hunter mahan

gary woodland

billy horschel

from an english golf tipster

I also bet Rory at Rose at Intertops (and Charl there), because of a promo.

"If your pick to win the PGA Championship title fails to make the cut, you can claim back up to USD 50 in losing stake for our “To Win Outright” bet offer for the tournament as a free bet! "

My first two picks are currently T2 (Furyk 1 shot off lead) and T4 (Fowler 2 shots off lead)

I got Rory in a parlay as well.

Would love to see either Furyk or Fowler bring this one home. If Rory takes it home, will have to carry out the parlay  :pop
